It doesn't do everything right, but it does offer a more engaging take on match-3 gameplay than most other applications of the tired mechanic. I enjoyed Clash of Heroes when I originally played it on the DS and was excited to see it ported to other platforms. You can read our review of the Xbox 360 version here.

The mechanics include a blend of army-building and match-3 that come together to make a largely engaging experience. The title is set in Ubisoft's Might & Magic universe and features a number of young heroes working together to save the world. Beginning on October 1, you'll be able to download Capybara's clever puzzle action title, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. The music is a great complement to the fantasy battles, but I found most of the time I resorted back to what was in my iPod library.September is winding to a close, and that means it's almost time for more free games (if you're an Xbox Live Gold subscriber). The detail in the avatars and the units are great touches, as are they when they attack. Units and environments look really great on the retina display, and the animations are smooth. The visuals look the same as the HD versions of the game. Unfortunately, even when using a landscape orientation with the small screen of the iPhone will lead to even more touchscreen woes. The DS version of the game used both screens, with the player and the enemy placed on one screen each. During battles, the players units are on the bottom of the field and the enemies units are placed at the top. There’s also an issue with how the game is presented. You have to tap and hold to be given the option to remove one of your units, but swiping left or right can still move the units that sit down at the bottom of the screen. The hassle is also found when you try to delete units. There are many times where I moved units that I did not want to. There’s no real sense of where to swipe or tap. The main problem that the game faces is that the touchscreen does not work well in the game.
